Rule of thumb: if the TV starts reliably, sound and menu work, but the picture shows a fixed vertical stripe, that strongly suggests panel or T-Con path — not aging film caps in the PSU.
The PSU more often causes: no start, intermittent shutdown, clicking, missing standby LED, aborted pixel refresh. Mainboard faults can affect the image, but a single sharp vertical line is often panel-adjacent in practice.

- Very often panel or T-Con path — but not without exception. Parallel start/power symptoms change the order of suspicion.
- Will a new PSU fix the line on screen?
- Usually no if the TV otherwise runs stably and only the stripe bothers you. PSU swap without diagnosis is expensive guessing.
- What does T-Con mean?
- T-Con = Timing Controller: board/logic that times image data to the panel. Faults there or in the connections can create lines.
- Is a repair request still worth it?
